Past parade at Elmvale Fall Fair

President’s Message

The Flos Agricultural Society has been proudly making memories since 1859 and we are excited to provide the opportunity for even more special moments as we bring you the Elmvale Fall Fair for 2024! I am thrilled to celebrate our historical presence within the local community with this year’s fair theme; Memories: Then & Now.

I look forward to welcoming back all returning residents and fair- goers and extend a heartfelt invitation to all our new residents, guests and families as we share our community spirit, celebrate our rural roots and the future of agriculture. At this year’s Fall Fair you will have the opportunity to explore and learn of past traditions and see how they have evolved and grown, celebrating the ones we have today. Time doesn’t stand still and I am eager for the traditions to continue while embracing new experiences of tomorrow.

I encourage you to connect with your family, friends and neighbours. Visit the many exhibits and livestock shows, watch the parades and enjoy the activities, midway and entertainment at this year’s Fall Fair. It is these moments of today that become lasting memories of tomorrow.

Thank you to all of our Directors and volunteers, as well as our generous sponsors, supporters and fair-goers. Each and everyone of you are significant in bringing our action packed Fall Fair to life, standing the test of time for 165 years!

Let’s join together for the Elmvale Fall Fair, October 11th and 12th…see you there! From our family to yours…Happy Thanksgiving

Fall Fair Ambassador 2023-2024

As the Ambassador of the Flos Agricultural Society and the Elmvale Fall Fair, I have found this role to be incredibly rewarding, in terms of learning new skills and building upon existing ones. It has truly been an experience like no other, providing me with insight into the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to make our Fair a success. To represent my community and the dedication of our farmers has been nothing short of an honour.

From attending our hometown Elmvale Fall Fair bringing greetings and handing out prizes, every moment has been memorable. Each interaction has allowed me to promote not just the Fair itself, but also the tireless efforts of those who contribute to its greatness year after year. Being part of this tradition has given me a deeper appreciation for the agricultural community and the importance of celebrating its achievements.

One of the highlights of my journey as an Ambassador was attending the District 5 meeting. There, I had the opportunity to enhance my skills and knowledge, gaining valuable under- standing into what it means to be an Ambassador. Additionally, I received a glimpse into the upcoming Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies OAAS convention in February, where I anticipate further growth and learning opportunities.

The OAAS convention proved to be an enriching experience, as I participated in numerous seminars that ranged from inspirational to informative. Meeting fellow Ambassadors from across Ontario allowed me to make connections and learn about the unique offerings of various Fairs. Bonding with my own agriculture society during this time was particularly special, as I witnessed firsthand their remarkable dedication and effort.

Supporting the Elmvale Maple Syrup Festival was another highlight, where I indulged in the sweet, tasty treats while also trying my hand at log sawing which was a new experience for me. These moments of participation not only added to my personal growth but also allowed me to connect with the community in a meaningful way.

Looking ahead, I am eagerly anticipating the Canadian National Exhibition in August. It is the largest annual community event in Canada and one of the top Fairs in North America. Competing against other Ambassadors for the CNE Ambassador title will undoubtedly be a thrilling challenge. However, more than the competition itself, I am excited to continue meeting new people and absorbing all that this experience has to offer.

Overall, serving as an Ambassador has been incredibly beneficial to me personally and pro- fessionally. I am grateful for the opportunity to represent my community. As my term comes to a close, I eagerly look forward to passing on this role to someone who will continue to uphold the values and traditions that make our Fair so special.

Junior Fair Ambassador 2023-2024

Being the Junior Ambassador for the Elmvale Fall Fair has been such a great experience. I have learned so much, and grown many great characteristics from the people I volunteer with, especially our Se- nior Ambassador. Hope has been such an amazing role model and community leader. She has helped me every step of the way and I am so grateful for the time I have spent with her. The entire com-

mittee has been encouraging and supportive, by showing me the ins and outs, going far out of their way to help me be successful in my role, even picking me up for events. Being the Junior Ambassador has been more than I ever imagined it would be. You get to meet new people, make new friends and try new things. Being involved in your community is so important! I knew it was volunteers that make our fair, festivals and events happen. But I had no idea how many people are involved and how much work goes into it. And if we don’t get involved when we are young and start volunteering, how will it all continue.
