Quilt Block Challenge

fair quiltIn anticipation of the celebration of the 150th Birthday of Canada (in 2017) , the Elmvale Fall Fair is sponsoring a Quilt Block Challenge and invite you to participate. Pick up and complete your packet at the locations listed below and enter in the 2016 Fall Fair (by Thursday October 6) . A fee of $5.00 will be charged for each packet, which will be refunded upon entry in the fair.

The quilt block packets are available at Whitfield’s Pharmacy and Knit Witz , of Queen St Elmvale and Tangled Threads , 559 Bay St, Midland, Ontario.

Heartfelt thanks to Annette and Glenda, the staff of Tangles Threads, for the assistance in designs and fabrics for this special project. All blocks become the property of Flos Agricultural Society and will be used to create quilt(s) for Canada’s celebration at our Fair next year.

Elementary School and younger children – Free all weekend

Discounted wrist bands will be sold at G&S Computers in Elmvale from September 19 to October 6,2016

Advance sales of these bracelets are until October 6, 2016 -Pre sale is for Friday or Saturday.

Mid Way Hours- Thursday open: 4:00 pm till close, Friday Open 11:00 am till close, Saturday Open at 11:00 am. All riders must have tickets or bracelet to ride. Hours are subject to change

12:00 noon line up at H.C.E.S Grounds.

Theme: Timeless Traditions

Floats will be judged and awarded prizes on the following groups

Community service, Churches, Family entries, Fun Groups, Best Themed Floats, Best Antique Tractor, Agricultural Entry.

(school floats will not be judged this day)

Prize Money 1st- $50.00 , 2nd-$35.00, 3rd-$30.00

Antique and Classic cars welcome.

No articles or candies etc to be thrown from the entries. Hand outs only , No extra riders on tractors. Occupants (2 per car) in period costumes , Please.

Decorated bikes, carts, wagons,clowns,horses and nostalgic entries need to be registered at HCES between 11:30 am and 12:00 noon the day of the parade.
